The New Media Breakdown #02

AI Music and Video, NVIDIA, Cara, Twitch, Google's AI Overviews

Welcome to the weekly MECHANIZED MEDIA Breakdown, where we summarize the most important topics of the week in AI, Social Media, and Online Marketing.

This week is all about AI content production, and it seems like the future of entertainment is becoming entirely synthetic. While still flying under the radar, AI-generated music is about to take the spotlight, and we are seeing great strides in AI video generation as well.

Headlines of the Week

Nvidia has risen to become the second most valuable company globally. On Wednesday afternoon, the chipmaking giant's market capitalization reached $3.01 trillion, slightly surpassing Apple's $3 trillion valuation.

Artists are leaving Instagram to safeguard their work from Meta's AI. As Meta uses artists' creations to train its AI, many are migrating to the AI-skeptical app Cara to protect their work.

Twitch has introduced a new DJ Category to address copyright issues, allowing DJs to stream millions of tracks with clarity on usage. However, DJs must share a portion of their earnings.

Stability AI, the company behind the AI art generator Stable Diffusion, has launched an open AI model for creating sounds and songs, claiming it was trained solely on royalty-free recordings.

Google is embarrassed by its AI Overviews following a flood of criticism and memes over the past week highlighting the poor quality and misinformation from the tech giant's underdeveloped new AI-powered search feature.

Gaming Revenue Is on the Rise, While Traditional Media Is Stagnating

If you want to understand why gaming represents the future of AI and entertainment, check out my article from Monday and tune in to the X Space for a discussion on AI and gaming that I recorded with my friend, Alex Northstar this week.

AI Music Is About to Disrupt the Industry

Within the last couple of weeks, we have witnessed unprecedented progress in AI music generation. At this point, there are dozens of great AI music generators led by Udio Music and Suno AI, which are capable of generating music in all styles, almost indistinguishable from human artists.

AI-generated music has become so impressive in the last couple of weeks that it's not just a poor substitute for the real thing; in many cases, it's better than the average amateur musician. While generative AI still can't compete with the best artists and might never reach that level, it will almost certainly surpass 90% of them.

For streamers and video creators, this is a game-changer and possibly the most significant innovation for content creation in 2024. Now, we can generate the perfect music background within minutes, using tools that are currently free to use.

Check out our Udio/Suno Prompt Guide. I'll delve into it in greater detail soon, but this should help you get started.

Tool of the Week: DigenAI

DigenAI enables the generation of realistic AI avatars. One can utilize default avatars or create personalized ones by uploading a 15-minute video. Contact me on X for an invitation to the early access program.

The AI Video Revolution is Near

A new Chinese video model named Kling, which can generate 2-minute videos at 30fps with 1080p quality, is available on the KWAI iOS app right now, but still requires a Chinese phone number.

Meanwhile, OpenAI continues to develop Sora, an AI technology that promises remarkable capabilities. Recently, TED utilized Sora to craft a promotional video for their latest event, showcasing its impressive potential.

While it's not confirmed, many speculate that OpenAI is withholding Sora due to this year's election. This sentiment is unlikely to be shared by the Chinese.
